An oil painting on canvas of a desert landscape by American artist Judge Ed Hummer. This painting depicts a desert canyon featuring rocky cliffs fronted to the foreground by shrubbery and pointed trees. To the lower right corner of the composition is a painted signature. The painting is presented in a distressed wooden frame featuring a cream colored linen liner with gold tone borders and hanging wire to the verso. Also included is a pamphlet regarding the artist.

Judge Edward (Ed) J. Hummer was born in Weehawken, New Jersey and received his formal education at the University of Notre Dame studying fine arts and accounting. Later he received a Doctorate in Jurisprudence but continued his art education while traveling to Paris, France. Hummer studied privately with painter Carl Kappas, C. Curry Bohm, and Fred W. Rigley in Brown County, Indiana. Hummer is best known for his landscapes, in particular the Colorado Rockies and figurative landscapes of the United States and Mexico. He primarily works in oil paintings and pastel creating rich and vibrant scenes. Hummer’s work is housed in private collections across the United States.
