A signed artist’s proof etching on paper of a forest scene by listed American artist and educator Herbert Fink (1921-2006), created in 1962. This work features a dense woodland area with various overgrown foliage and trees. The work is signed and dated by hand in graphite to the lower right; it is specifically dated ‘Jan 24, 1962’ and marked ‘state proof #5’ to the lower left. Presented under glass with off-white and gray mats, and housed in a wood frame with a medium brown finish.

Known for his drawings and prints, Herbert Lewis Fink received his B.F.A. at the Rhode Island School of Design and his M.F.A. from Yale University. He continued his art training at the Art Students League in New York with Arshile Gorky, John Frazier, and Gabor Peterdi, among others. His work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Baltimore Museum of Art; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Art Institute of Chicago, to name a few.
