An antique poplar schoolmaster’s desk, circa second quarter of the 19th century. The frame features a hinged, slant-lid with a raised, support lip opening to a vacant, storage well. The desk rises on four square, tapered legs.

- refinished at some point with scattered scratches, nicks, and marks; darker marks along back edge of top; top probably had a rear, three-quarter gallery at one time, which is now missing; front, right corner of slant lid and support lip with a chip; back, right foot with a larger chip; missing interior lock mechanisms; other wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
