An oil painting on canvas by American artist Judge Ed Hummer, titled Boulders in Stream. This painting depicts a choppy brook cutting through grassy shores accented with tall shrubbery, rock clusters and trees sprouting lush leaves. To the lower left corner of the composition is a painted artist signature. The painting is wrapped over a wooden stretcher inscribed with descriptors of the scene and an artist signature.

Judge Edward (Ed) J. Hummer was born in Weehawken, New Jersey and received his formal education at the University of Notre Dame studying fine arts and accounting. Later he received a Doctorate in Jurisprudence but continued his art education while traveling to Paris, France. Hummer studied privately with painter Carl Kappas, C. Curry Bohm, and Fred W. Rigley in Brown County, Indiana. Hummer is best known for his landscapes, in particular the Colorado Rockies and figurative landscapes of the United States and Mexico. He primarily works in oil paintings and pastel creating rich and vibrant scenes. Hummer’s work is housed in private collections across the United States.
