A vintage African Ivory Coast Dan tribe Mahgle bird wooden mask in dark patina, characterized by a concave face, high forehead and the long hinged ‘beak-like’ feature. The Mah- (bird) Gle (spirit mask) represents the spirit that communicates, entertains and blesses the people. Natural fiber strands are laced to the edge as well as a strip of pin and fuchsia beaded trim at front edge of the beak. The mask is presented on a custom black metal stand to display the piece upright.
