Chinese Quatrefoil-Shaped Cinnabar Box With Carved Lid
Item Details
A 19th century Chinese cinnabar quatrefoil-shaped box with a carved lid. The work is painted a deep red or cinnabar with a figurative scene of scholars in a rock garden carved into the lid. Black lacquer to the the interior of the box. The lid and base are separate and displayed freestanding.
Condition
- fair; some wear to the edges of the lid and base; lid could benefit from a cleaning; some cracks and chips to the lip of the base; cracks to the lacquer inside the lid; to the bottom of the base, residue and wear.
