A large framed lithograph poster of Normandie by A.M. Cassandre, a pseudonym for Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron (Ukrainian-French, 1901 – 1968). This piece commemorates the transatlantic voyage of the ship in 1935., and features the ship to the front of the poster with wording below. The words read, ‘NORMANDIE CIE GLE TRANSATLANTIQUE FRENCH LINE LE HAVRE- SOUTHAMPTON- NEW-YORK VOYAGE INAUGURAL 29 MAI 1935’. There is a reproduction signature by the artist is present to the upper right. The item is presented in a cherry toned wooden frame under glass with white matting, and wire to the verso for hanging. Cassandre was a successful and popular painter, commercial poster artist, graphic and typeface designer.
