A limited edition etching on paper titled Old Man and the Fish by listed artist Vasily Kafanov (Russian, b. 1952). The man’s hat is an architectural tower, a visual reference to the Fishtower, a symbolic and repeated motif for the artist. Number 3 in a limited edition of 10. The piece is numbered, titled, and signed by the artist in graphite to the lower margin. Artist and medium are attributed by an unknown hand to the matting. Housed in a layer of fabric matting with a gilt fillet. Known for his imaginative and dream-like scenes, the artist famously designed album art for the American rock band, The Smashing Pumpkins, 2000 album, Machina/ The Machine of God.
