Antique Post-Civil War Civic Organization Medals

A collection of three antique post-Civil War medals from civic organizations. This lot features a bronze-toned medal from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), with a cap reading ‘Filii Veteranorum’ (Brotherhood of Veterans) with a red, white, and blue ribbon suspending a bronze medal proper in the shape of a wreath capped by a perching eagle and ahead of two crossed cannons; an inscription to the inside reads ‘Gratia Dei Servatus’ (Preserved by the Grace of God) along with the Roman Numerals for the year 1881, that of the SUVCW’s founding. Also included is a second SUVCW medal consisting of a bronze top bearing the organization’s name, with two tricolor ribbons suspending a silver-toned Past Camp Commander badge consisting of a Maltese cross with the SUVCW logo of a wreath, eagle, and crossed cannons. Rounding out the lot is a medal consisting of a decorative top piece with a tricolor ribbon suspending a medal from the National Woman’s Relief Corps, bearing the words ’Woman’s Relief Corps’ and the date 1883. The three medals are presented in a black display box with a clear top.
