An oil painting on canvas titled Grizzly bears at stream by listed wildlife artist John Lofgreen (American; born 1955), dated 1981. This intricate work depicts a Grizzly bear with a pair of cubs standing within a watercourse surrounded by a lush natural ambiance. The piece is signed and dated in paint to the lower right corner. The name of the artist’s and title of the piece are engraved on a metal plate affixed to the lower area of the frame. This painting is presented without glass, beneath a beige liner, housed in a carved wood frame.

Lofgreen was born in Mesa, Arizona and is best known for his wildlife oil paintings. At a young age, he demonstrated a great connection with animals, which led him to work as a volunteer in the Santa Barbara Zoo. After this experience, Lofgreen developed a fervent interest for this subject and began an artistic career as a self-thought artist. In 1996, with the intention of achieving greater fame and recognition the artist feigned his death. Lofgreen has been an active supporter of the The Audubon Society and member of the White Mountain Conservation Society, Wildlife Conservation Society and the Alaska Bird Treatment.
