An oil painting on board titled Ute Country by Joan Matzdorf (American; 21st Century). The work depicts a lush forest and snow cap mountains with a tepee to the foreground. To the bottom left, the work is signed in paint. A metal plaque is attached to the wooden frame with the title and artist name printed. To the verso, a gallery label is adhered along with some inscriptions written in marker and graphite. The painting is presented in a deep wooden frame with both gold toned and canvas fillets.
Painter Joan Matzdorf (21st Century) began her formal training at the Philbrook Museum of Art at the young age of five. Throughout her early years she continued to train with various artist and institutions including the Albright Institute and the University of Tulsa. Matzdorf is known for ‘Plein Aire,’ or open air painting. Her work can be found in private galleries throughout the United States and publications like Southwest Art magazine and Art of the West magazine.
