An oil painting on canvas titled East Texas Oil Patch by Ruth Goldsborough (American; 1918 – 2013), created in 1992. The work depicts large metallic oil rigs offset by blue and yellow reflective color on the surface of a like. To the bottom right, the work is signed and dated in paint. A metal plaque with the title and artist name is attached to the canvas fillet. The painting is presented in a wooden frame with a canvas fillet.

Art educator and painter Ruth Goldsborough (1918 – 2013) began her formal art training under to tutelage of painter, print maker, and educator George Jo Mess (American; 1898 – 1962) at Indiana University. She also studied at the John Heron School of Art. After her husband’s death in 1975 the artist traveled throughout Arizona painting scenes of the American West. Her work can be viewed in private collections and institutions including the Cherokee Museum in Oklahoma. At the time of her death an Education Fund for the Hendersonville Art League was created in her honor.
