An oil painting on canvas titled Fancy Dancer by listed artist Joan Matzdorf (American, 21st-Century). The work depicts a partially abstracted scene comprised of a dancing figure wearing a Native American feathered regalia. The piece is signed to the lower right corner. There is an informational label affixed to the verso. The painting is presented within a wood frame with a black painted finish and gold-tone accents.
Painter Joan Matzdorf began her formal training at the Philbrook Museum of Art at the young age of five. Throughout her early years she continued to train with various artist and institutions including the Albright Institute and the University of Tulsa. Matzdorf is known for ‘Plein Aire,’ or open air painting. Her work can be found in private galleries throughout the United States and publications like Southwest Art magazine and Art of the West magazine.
