A lithograph print on paper titled Owl with Mouse in Mouth by listed artist John Lofgreen (American; b. 1955). Depicted is a barn owl perched in a broken window with a mouse dangling from its beak. The artist’s signature is in graphite to the lower right corner. An informative plaque is to lower margin of the frame. The piece is presented matted under glass in a wooden frame with faux-suede insert and wire hanger to the verso.
Lofgreen was born in Mesa, Arizona and is best known for his elaborate wildlife oil paintings. At a young age, he demonstrated a great connection with animals, which led him to work as a volunteer in the Santa Barbara Zoo. After this experience, Lofgreen developed a fervent interest for this subject and began an artistic career as a self-thought artist. In 1996, with the intention of achieving greater fame and recognition the artist feigned his death. Lofgreen has been an active supporter of the The Audubon Society and member of the White Mountain Conservation Society, Wildlife Conservation Society and the Alaska Bird Treatment.
