An oil painting on board titled The Captive by Blackfoot American Indian artist Shep Chadhorn (20th Century). The work depicts a figurative scene featuring contrasting light and shadows creating tension. To the bottom right, the work is signed in paint. A metal plate adhered to the fabric fillet includes the artist name. The painting is presented in a deep wooden frame with a brown fabric fillet.
Blackfoot American Indian artist Shep Chadhorn (20th Century) received formal painting education from the Art Institute of New York. His figurative works of Native American life and Western Genre scenes have been displayed and sold throughout the American Southwest.
Condition
- some scratches and nicks to the frame; large nick to the top of the frame; right corner of the frame is slightly raised; fabric fillet is worn; small scratches to the surface of the painting; to the verso, residue and wear to the protective paper.
