8' x 11' Hand-Knotted Persian Mashhad Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Mashhad area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of crimson red, steel blue, olive, midnight blue, and cream. It features an ornate floral design beginning with an ogival medallion with pendants over a crimson field. The field is filled with arabesqued palmettes, flowers, leaves, and vines, elements that continue in the spandrels and main border. Framing the field are compound borders, including an elaborate palmette main border grounded in midnight blue. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
