An antique intaglio engraving by English Engraver George Sidney Hunt (1856 – 1917) of a biblical work by Edwin Long (England, 1929 – 1891) from 1885. The engraving depicts days of mourning after Jephthah sacrifices his daughter to God. Hand-titled in the lower left margin ’Jephthah’s Vow Days of Mourning’ and signed G. Sidney Hunt and 1891 to the lower right margin. The image is signed in-plate near the left margin by Edwin Long and dated 1885. This engraving has been in the Hunt Family for four generations, it is presented surrounded by a linen tone mat and black finished wood frame.

Condition

-there is some light foxing and some light colored discoloration near the bottom of the engraving, blemishes to frame
