A chromolithograph of a pelican with a limited edition hand-colored etching titled Flamingo by artist M. Charles. The etching is rendered with short, confident marks and depicts a pink flamingo bending its neck to touch its beak to its feathers. It is signed, titled, and numbered 80/350 in pencil to its lower margin. The illustration of the pelican, appearing to have been removed from a book, is designed by ornithologist Jacob H. Studer (1840-1904) and depicts the bird on a shoreline. Both prints are presented unframed and behind protective plastic.
Condition
- fair; abrasions to flamingo print over signature and to margin at lower center; marks. and tears to plastic of flamingo print; discoloration to paper of pelican print.
