Item Details

Not Signed

A collection of six hand-colored lithographs on paper from Paxton’s Flower Garden, a botanical publication by English gardener Sir Joseph Paxton (1803-1865), with illustrations after works by Louis Aristide Léon Constans (19th Century) and J.L. Prévost (1750-1810). Included in this lot are illustrations of the Palmate-Leaved Spiræa, the Crimped Gueldres Rose, Klaboch’s Pescatorea, the Very Slender Jasmine, Andre’s Anthurium, and the rose-colored variety of the Common Water Lily. All have the common and scientific name printed to the lower center, and each has a larger, colored illustration of the blooms with a smaller illustration in black and white of the full plant. All six prints have the original text from the book included to the verso, and all are presented in colored mats with plastic wrapping.
