An antique engraving on paper by English engraver and painter Thomas Trotter (circa 1750-1803) after a drawing from life by English artist David Loggan (1634-1692). This portrait depicts Dr. Peter Mews, the Bishop of Winchester in 1684 in his robes and zucchetto. The print is labeled with the subject as well as the seal of the diocese and publication information to the lower center and the artists’ names to the lower corners. IT is presented behind a mat and acrylic glass in a painted black wood frame.
Condition
- chips and wear to the frame; accretion to glass; mat is creased to the top and lower left; some wear and discoloration to the paper; rip to the left on the paper; rips and wear to protective backing.
