A vintage hand-knotted Persian Gholtugh Bijar area rug. The wool rug features a coral ground with a central medallion with highlights of light blue tones, coral, white and brick red. The central medallion is laid against a ground populated with numerous Herati patterns in blue, coral, white and brick red. There are Herati spandrels on cobalt field. The minor Rhodesian borders are in coral, light blue and white on olive ground. The major border is in a turtle pattern with coral, light blue, cream and olive on a cobalt field. Border is unresolved. The rug features hand tied ivory tone cotton warp fringe at the ends.
