Early 20th Century German 935 Silver Black Glass and Marcasite Snuff Box
Item Details
An early 20th century 935 silver snuff box featuring a beveled black glass lid with adorning marcasites. The snuff box is attributed to German silversmiths Meyle & Mayer of Pforzheim. There is an appliqué to the lid depicting two crossed torches with surrounding foliage topped with marcasites. To the inner lip, the box is marked with a dragonfly hallmark attributed to Meyle & Mayer, 935 for silver content, and an unidentified flower hallmark. The approximate weight, including all non-silver elements, is 3.590 ozt.
