A vintage finely hand-knotted wool and silk Persian Qum hunting scene area rug. This finely crafted area rug has a color palette of vibrant coral, cerulean, dove gray, moss green, ocher, midnight blue, cream, and black. The bright-coral pink field features four hunters on rearing and galloping horses, as they capture fierce lions, stags and wolf-like beasts. It is further embellished with flowering tree branches and elegant birds hidden within the design. The main border features alternating rosettes, shield shapes, and tree of life motifs with guard borders of boteh, flowering blossoms, and barber pole stripes. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and natural warp fringe to either end.
