Antique Hand-Knotted Bijar Wool Area Rug
Item Details
An antique hand-knotted Bijar wool area rug. The rug has been worked in shades of coral, persimmon, sage, indigo, sky blue, ivory, black, wine, and maize. The lozenge field with dark background features three small floral medallions surrounded by geometric shapes infilled stylized bird motifs. The ivory spandrels are populated by more geometric and floral motifs. The wide border incorporates boteh, floral, and arrow motifs. The selvedges are overcast and there is abbreviated fringe to each end. The ends have been reinforced. The carpet is not marked.
