Vintage Handwoven Chinese Pictorial Accent Rug

Item Details

A handwoven Chinese pictorial carved area rug. This wool rug features a colorful Chinese landscape with figural and foliate vignettes including Qing dynasty pagodas, river boats, and willow trees with flowers in hues of blue, peach, green, rose and black. The main border repeats this pattern with two guard borders in dragon head motifs, framed by a solid cobalt blue outer guard border. It has been carved along the design elements for a textural appearance. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges and long ivory knotted wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
