1796 British London Sterling Dishes with Other Sterling Flatware and Tableware

Item Details

A mixed collection of sterling silver tableware and flatware. This selection includes fifteen items, featuring two antique British rectangular dishes with scallop corners and reeded rims. Each bowl has an engraved hand holding foliage on the edge and British hallmarks stamped on the underside of a lion passant, crowned leopard for London, an ‘A’ for 1796, and a King George III duty mark, as well as a worn maker’s mark of ‘HG’. These pieces are accompanied by a Black Starr & Frost pitcher with a curved handle and a square pedestal base, three teaspoons and one soup spoon by Gorham in the Chesterfield pattern, an Alvin fork in the Hamilton pattern, and a Mexican Bahamas souvenir spoon with a handle enameled in blue, ‘Nassau’. The lot also includes a round napkin ring with ribbed trim, a hexagonal napkin ring, a Georg Jensen oval napkin, a footed condiment shaker, and a hinged mustard pot with a pierced quatrefoil and circle design, a single handle, and a red glass liner. The total approximate weight, excluding the mustard pot glass liner, is 24.455 ozt.

- surface wear throughout including light scratches and tarnish; mustard pot has heavy tarnish with broken handle; some have personalized engravings.
