Handwoven Mexican and South American Style Wool Textiles
Item Details
A pair of handwoven Mexican and South American style wool textiles. This pair offers a smaller piece most likely attributed to Mexican weavers, rendered in a palette of camel, ivory, cranberry, and black, featuring a central geometric medallion and stripes to each end against the camel colored field. Finishing the textile are double overcast selvedges and cotton warp ivory fringe to the ends. The wall hanging or accent rug is likely attributed to South American weavers and rendered in a bold palette of cranberry, saffron, white, cobalt, clementine, and black. The cranberry field features a large figurative form along with geometric and figural motifs. This piece is finished with double overcast selvedges and folded ends with supportive backing to the underside. Both go unlabeled.
