Large Hand-Knotted Peshawar Area Rug
Item Details
A large Peshawar area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a tea-washed palette of taupe, sapphire, cream, gray and camel, with undertones of saffron. It features a large-scale herati pattern, incorporating two out-sized palmettes amid smaller palmettes, creatively irregular vinework, and flowers in shades of camel, sapphire, and saffron over a taupe field. The field is framed by four borders, including a wide, elaborate herati main border grounded in camel. A pair of minor borders feature herati patterns in smaller scale over taupe. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
