Antique Chest of Drawers by Asa Van-Kleeck

Item Details

An antique, stained oak chest of drawers. It has five stacked drawers, each with an applied scrolled vine carving under a brass filigree escutcheon and between curved bails on pierced, filigreed plates. It has an applied carving in the center of the curved apron, and stands on block legs on casters. The sides and back have horizontal framing slats, and the back is stamped ‘Asa Van-Kleeck/ Howell, Mich.’
Van-Kleeck was an active member of Howell in the 1860s-80s, and his business is listed in an 1897 directory.
