Japanese Kutani Porcelain Footed Jar

Item Details

A Japanese Kutani porcelain jar. The jar features a bright painted design depicting robed figures next to waterfront buildings and under blossoming trees in a palette of red, blue, cream and grey with gilt circular, checked, and feathered accents throughout. The removable lid has a circular knob handle and the jar sits on three inverted scroll feet. The piece is marked ‘九谷’ (Kutani) to the underside.

- minor stains to interior; marks to undersides of feet.
