Item Details

In Plate

A giclee print after an original work of art End Game by English Aviation artist Nicolas Trudgian (20th century). This print has signatures of WWII Veterans, some with unit numbers, in the margins. The print is signed and dated (2001) in plate to the lower right. In the lower margin, below the title, the following descriptive passage appears, Heading for the Me262 fighter base at Schwabisch Hall in Southern Germany, February 25, 1945 B-24 Liberators of the 467th Bomb Group come under determined attack from Me262 jet interceptors intent on breaking up the formation. In the foreground, ‘Witchcraft’ defends herself with all guns blazing as the formation thunders on undeterred toward the target. The 2nd Air Division played a key role in the European air war, one of it’s most famous Liberators ‘Witchcraft’ completing 130 missions without an abort. This piece is presented in blue and tan matting, behind glass, and in a gold-tone metal frame. The verso of this piece is equipped to hang.
