Herend Hungary "Rothschild Birds" Hand-Painted Porcelain Vase

A hand-painted porcelain vase. The spherical form is hand-painted in the Rothschild Birds pattern which was created in 1860 for the Rothschild family. Song birds perch on branches while butterflies are scattered across the surface. Several pearl necklaces are caught in the branches. The Rothschilds had a family story about how one of the baronesses lost her precious necklace in the garden only to have it discovered days later in a tree by one of the gardeners. The piece is marked on the bottom with the Herend Hungary back stamp and ‘6321-0-17/RO/CD’.
