A large Indian Agra area rug. This wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of rust, gold, cornsilk, and pale taupe. It features a large-scale herati pattern incorporating palmettes in different sizes, lancet leaves, flowers, and vines over a rust-colored field. The field is framed by six borders, including a primary border featuring palmettes and stylized vinework over gold. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
