A Steiff Purzelbar/Somersault Replica 1909 teddy bear. Based on the original animated clock-work bear designed to turn somersaults in 1909, this joined bear is handcrafted in a tan mohair plush, with a black embroidered nose, brown eyes, beige pads at the paws. The 1990/91 bear includes the Steiff ‘Purzelbar Replica 1909’ attached paper tag, a metal Steiff ear button marked model #406553, and numbered #01191. There is also a Margarete Steiff Giengen certificate of authenticity with number, indicating the bear is a limited edition of 5,000 pieces. The original box is also included.
