A pair of signed and carved Kachina sculptures by Hopi Pueblo artists. The sculptures include a Masau Kachina by Eugene Dallas and a Kokosori Kachina by L. Gallegos. The tall carved and painted Masau kachina with headdress, is also known as the Hopi Death Kachina. This deity is responsible for the Earth’s surface as well a the underworld. It is signed ‘Eugene Dallas’ to the base. The short carved, black painted with spots sculpture is the Kokosori kachina, representing the Fire deity, and shown as a pre-pubescent boy. The base is signed ‘Kokosori Kachina, L. Gallegos, Hopi.’
