Taos Pueblo Tony Mirabal Pottery Whistle

An art pottery whistle by Taos Pueblo artist Tony Mirabal (d. 2013). Made from New Mexico mountain clay, Mirabal is renowned for his use of horsehair in his pottery. It is fired with a special technique of applying the thick and fine hair during firing, and later polished with a river rock. This whistle contains four holes and a blow opening, and is attached to a leather strap. Signed ‘T. Mirabal, Tao Pueblo’ to the reverse.
