A signed carved Turtle Kachina sculpture by Hopi Pueblo artist R. Harris. This hand painted carved sculpture depicts a Turtle Kachina, an important water creature in the Hopi culture. The long beard depicted on this Kachina represents falling rain, while the feathers on the beard are symbols of prayers. The multi-colored detailed robe is also decorated with turtle symbols. Signed to the reverse base ‘R. Harris, Turtle Kachina, Hopi, with feather (pictorial).’
