An oil copy painting on canvas by an anonymous artist after the original 1939 painting by well-listed Russian-French Expressionist Marc Chagall (1887 – 1985), titled Bonjour Paris. In this Surrealist piece, the Eiffel Tower is anthropomorphized with a face and arm, and a large rooster is perched on a string of buildings, its face level with that of the Tower. The sky is a brilliant blue and the city is cast in a vibrant red and blue light. It is not marked by the artist. The piece is presented without glass in an ornate gold tone wood frame with white linen liner.
Condition
- minor craquelure in paint piles; scuffs on backing paper.
