Item Details
An Empire style mahogany dresser by Thompsonville with mirror. The dresser has a rectangular, serpentine edged top over two stacks of drawers flanking a recessed center section featuring a drawer over a pair of cabinet doors. The outside sets of dovetailed drawers feature routed edged, serpentine-shaped fronts and flanked by a carved, scrolled acanthus leaf on either side. The center section features a dovetailed drawer embellished with a serpentine edged, raised panel over raised paneled cabinet doors. The cabinet doors open to three stacked drawers with cut-out pulls. The dresser is embellished with brass-plated foliate knobs, bail pulls and a keyhole escutcheon and rises on bracket feet joined by a curved, swelled apron. The accompanying rectangular mirror is set in a lighter finished mahogany frame with canted corners and a pressed trim. The dresser is marked, ‘Thompsonville’ inside one drawer, the mirror has no discernible maker’s mark. Companion pieces listed under 17LOU201-127, 17LOU201-128 and 17LOU201-129.
