Acoma Pueblo Marilyn Ray Friendship Pottery Bowls

A pair of Native American friendship bowls by Acoma Pueblo artist Marilyn Ray (b. 1954). This selection includes two bowls made of a light clay, with a geometric exterior design painted in vibrant colors. One bowl features three dimensional figures including two boys, two dogs, a bird and a butterfly, dated ‘1995.’ The smaller bowl features three dimensional figures including a boy and a girl with a butterfly, dated ‘2009.’ Both are signed ‘M. Ray, Acoma, NM.’

Marilyn Ray (Lewis) and her sisters were born into the Corn Clan and learned pottery from their grandmother. Marilyn has been marking pottery since 1966, specializing in storytellers, friendship bowls and other figurative pottery.
