A color lithograph on paper after a painting by Austrian flower painter Joseph Nigg (1782-1863). This still life depicts an arrangement of many different types of flowers that overfill the metal handled vessel in which they are contained. The flowers sit on a wooden ledge that also houses a bird’s nest and a bunch of grapes that are being picked at by a small songbird. It is unsigned and has the artist’s name printed in a cartouche to the lower center margin. This print is presented behind a white mat and glass in a gold tone frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- some accretion between the glass, mat, and image paper; nicks and scratches around the frame.
