Pair of Large Chinese Warrior Figural Carvings

Item Details

A pair of large, well carved Chinese warriors on horse, each having fierce expressive faces and inlaid wire detail; standing upon a cloud carved base, each carved of one piece of dense hardwood. Unmarked, late 19th or early 20th century.

Condition

- having shrinkage cracks and various losses, particularly to swords in hands, break on one forward rear leg, of horse.
- small chips to mane and hand of one sculpture with signs of a repair to said hand.
