A tufted and carved Old Peking style carpet runner. This wool runner is rendered in a palette of cream, midnight blue, ice blue, rust, tan, and pink. It features a classic Old Peking vase design, which begins with three semi-geometric central medallions featuring twining vines and key motifs amid palmettes surrounding a floral starburst. The medallions rests on a cream-colored field populated with evenly spaced vase and bouquet forms and stylized florals. Elements of the medallion are repeated in the spandrels. Framing the field are two borders, including a floral major border and solid blue border. The rug finished at either end with thick, knotted cotton warp fringe. It is design #B-2008 from the Tientsin Series of 100% Chinese hand made wool rug, imported by Trans-Ocean Incorporated, New York, New York. There are other rugs in this sale with matching patterns.
