A pair of tufted and carved Old Peking style octagonal accent rugs. The wool rugs are rendered in a palette of cream, midnight blue, ice blue, rust, tan, and pink. They feature a classic Old Peking vase design, which begins with a semi-geometric central medallion featuring twining vines and key motifs amid palmettes surrounding a floral starburst. The medallion rests on a cream-colored field. Elements of the medallion are repeated in the spandrels. Framing the field are three borders, including a Chinese key minor border, and a floral major border. The rug is finished in a surrounding thick, knotted cotton warp fringe. It is design #B-2008 from the Tientsin Series of 100% Chinese hand made wool rug, imported by Trans-Ocean Incorporated, New York, New York. There are other rugs in this sale with matching patterns.
