19th Century Cased Daguerreotypes

Item Details

A pair of 19th century cased daguerreotypes. The images include one of a solemn couple dressed in austere fashion, the gentleman in a black jacket, with white winged collar shirt with black tie, the woman in a white lace bonnet, dark satin dress with layer lace collar, and one of a young gentleman dressed formally in jacket with vest and white shirt. The daguerreotypes are framed in embossed brass mat with red velvet piping, one with an embossed red velvet panel advertising ‘Fontayne & Porters Gallery, No.30, 4th St., Cincinnati’, along with eagle and scrolling leaf design to the opposite side of the hinged frame and the second with an embossed scrollwork design. The outside of the hinged cases is in an embossed dark brown gutta percha material.
