A signed woodcut on paper titled Puente Ramonet, Taxco by listed Hungarian-American artist Carl Lewis Pappe (1900-1998). This work features a lush village scene in Mexico. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right margin; it is titled to the lower left margin, both concealed by the mat. It is presented under glass with off-white matting, and housed in a black wood frame.

Born in Hungary, Pappe immigrated to the United States at a young age. He studied at the Cleveland School of Art and later the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 1934, he emigrated to Mexico where he came to know Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Rufino Tamayo, and was an apprentice for Jose Orozco. He works in a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, and printmaking. His work has been exhibited by numerous institutions including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Woodmere Art Museum, and the Library of Congress.
