An oil portrait on canvas board of a gentleman by listed American artist William Gebhardt (1907-1975), created in 1944. This bust portrait features a three-quarter view of a young gentleman wearing a blue suit, a red tie, and a serious expression on his face. The composition is signed and dated to the lower right. It is presented a textural beige wood frame with gold-tone accents.

William Edwin Gebhardt was born in Franklin, Ohio and was known for his portraits and floral paintings. His work can be found in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., as well as many private collections.

- faint white stains and scratches scattered throughout painting; stretch marks present near lower edge of painting; minor scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout frame.
