An oil painting on canvas of a pastoral landscape by J. Kinard. Rendered with meticulous detail, this romantic landscape features a marshy stream surrounded by foliage, grassy plains, and lush trees. A quaint cottage is present in the middle-ground along the bank; ducks and cows are scattered along the stream, and a few minuscule farmers are visible in the distance. The painting is signed ‘J. Kinard’ to the lower left. It is presented in an antique Louis XV style gilt and gesso frame. To the lower edge of the frame is a metal plate engraved with the artist’s name.
Condition
- some craquelure throughout painting, but otherwise in good condition; wear to frame includes small chips, cracks, scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout.
