A gouache painting on a paper hand fan with a mother of pearl handle. This decorative fan depicts a classically rendered genre scene of aristocratic men and women gathered near a stream situated within a pastoral landscape, which is bordered by scroll motifs to the top edge. The fan is affixed to an ornately detailed mother of pearl handle, which folds together. The fan is placed against an olive green backing and is placed under glass in a bronze tone wooden frame with hanging wire to the verso.

Condition
- tears to the bottom where the image paper meets the fan handle; pervasive creases and fold marks throughout the fan area; left side of handle is detached from the fan; gold tone wood and gesso frame showing nicks and scratches around the frame.
