Handmade Needlepoint Aubusson Style Wool Area Rug

Item Details

A needlepoint Aubusson style area rug. The rug has been chain stitched by hand using yarn in shades of ivory, fawn, buff, rose, blush, sage, olive, and sky. The rug features an oval cartouche floral medallion on a pale field infilled with lattice designs and sprays of flowers. The narrow guard borders have notched corners to allow shield motifs to be filled with flowers. The floral theme is continued in the main border design. The edges of the rug have been turned under and secured with a band of plain fabric. The carpet is not labeled.
